The site contains some images of the band members(?) and more material is promised to come soon. visit the site at: http://www.rodgerthat.com ### Review: Rodger That live in Jyväskylä (June 16, 2000) "Good", "Ok", "Nice", "Not bad", "Well..." and "Sorry, i gotta go" are some enthusiastic reactions from the excited audience at the Bar Vakkiopaune on the 16th of June after the "Roger That Experience" performed by the world famous Rodger That. The diverse two-hour show truly was a success. The show started with a classic hit-song "Pilipo" (released on "Epopido", 1914) played from a tape by the chef. The rest of the band came on stage in the middle of the song and took control of the audience. Many Roger That classics were played live that evening - Madekoski South 69 (Pitkin, 1962), Lalla (?), Mouserap (?), Fio-Smak Respecto Electromix (Fio-Smak Respecto, 1957), Kato Traktori (?) hit the nostalgic spot in everone. The highly emotional version of Muistojeni Lintu (Pitkin, 1962) touched the audience deeply. It had a so strong influence on the reader of the poem that the whole song had to be stopped at one point.. but luckily he was able to continue after the short pause. Rodger That also played some Mats Swan hits, audience loved especially the song "Pasane Ja Mä" from the hit album "Inari Live 1942". "This was one of the best gigs we have ever given, the audience just loved us. I could see it in their eyes. Of course they were some art haters who thought we were crap, but I guess they changed their minds when I uhm.. talked things through with them", said the angry chef, who served pink pancakes with blue whipped cream while the band played. The last time Rodger That played in Finland was in 1986, when there were some embarrassing accidents on stage which cancelled a big part of the show. After that the band wasn't very enthusiastic about performing in the dark and cold northern reindeer-land, but thanks to Rikos Records (http://www.rikosrecords.com) the band finally returned there! A promotional video and a full audio recording of the gig will be available at Rodger That's homepage soon. ### New release (22.6) at the fanclub site: Texas: Arabai EP (1962) The mystical "Arabai" EP with strong arabic influences contains six exotic tracks from the rhythmic "Daggia" (which by the way was #1 in the Arabian top13 in 1963) to the beautiful atmospheric ambient track "Morning Call". We don't know the full history of this EP but the compositions may have something to do with the "Great American Snakehunt" held in Caero in 1963. Texas has always looked up to the men who compete and "spread their love" in these annual seventeen-day events. ### New release (24.8) at the fanclub site: Bulgaria tapes (1965) One of the long lost "Bulgaria tapes" has been found! A fan of ours sent us the tape labelled "7" and we are proud to offer you the two tracks from it in mp3 format. Huge thanks to you, our anynymous fan. You will be rewarded. By the time of the release of Arabai EP by Texas, Roger That met Julia Shindelmann, a talented young woman, in Caero. She was very intrigued by Roger's music and asked him to perform with her at an etno festival held in Bulgaria apparently in 1965. The only thing known about this festival is that it if we look at the attendance of it, it was one of the lousiest festivals in the whole world history. One could count the size of the audience with the fingers of two hands. Fortunately Roger's and Julia's magnificent Argentine music influenced fusion-etno was recorded on tape, although as far as we know only one tape with two songs has survived to present day, as all others have disappeared. A fan remembers Roger stating some thoughts about the gig: "Melodica is one of the most precious of all instruments. I feel great pleasure as the stream of air drifts from the lungs to audience's ears and turns into breathtaking melodies." ### Selected official Fanclubs Roger That Fanclub Internationale WWW: http://sik.oulu.fi/~roger/ Email: staff@rogerfan.net (fanmail, dj/live gigs, general & club joining information, questions, etc.) Roger That Fanclub Helsinki Contact person: Antero Tallberg Email: seed@rogerfan.net (fanmail, general & club joining information) Roger That Fanclub Oulu Contact persons: Pete Thorne & Albert Luotola Email: yam@rogerfan.net / aeo@rogerfan.net (fanmail, general & club joining information) Roger That Fanclub Rovaniemi Contact person: Raivo Karhu Email: kontio@rogerfan.net (fanmail, general & club joining information) Roger That Fanclub Karachi Contact person: Greg Wildston Email: greg@rodgerthat.com (rocks, pieces of wood, peanuts & club joining information) With love, --- David Sylvester Roger That Fanclub Internationale Marketing Department http://sik.oulu.fi/~roger
